What is the difference between a licensed REALTOR and a licensed real estate agent? Hmmmm. You didn’t know there was a difference? Well, there is! A huge difference.
A licensed real estate agent is just that. Someone with a real estate license. They can sell houses and many builders use licensed AZ real estate licensees. This is very different from an AZ REALTOR®. See the little ® at the end of REALTOR®? This means REALTOR in all caps is a registered trademark. That is the first difference but not the main one.
The main difference is when you join the National Association of REALTORS, you agree to adhere to a high standard of conduct. This is called the REALTOR Code of Ethics.

A REALTOR® through their dues also is part of a local association. In my case it is Southeast Valley Association of REALTORS or also known as SEVAR. With this comes the ability to join Supra and offer clients the ability to put their property on the MLS and secure it with a lockbox for showings. Non REALTORS® cannot do this. They do not have the ability to put your home in the MLS because they have not joined NAR.
